Monkey Jacket Red

A mixture of three vineyards. Over half of the blend is Valdiguié (Napa Gamay) from an old vine, dry and organically farmed vineyard in Calistoga, which lends a fruity and floral component to the blend. Around a third is a field blend of heritage varieties grown organically at the Eaglepoint Ranch high above Ukiah in Mendocino county. This is the strong, structural backbone of the wine. Finally the remainder of the blend is Tannat from the famed Alder Springs vineyard in Mendocino. The Tannat from this cool climate is not heavy, but still adds a viscosity to the wine. The synergy of these diverse terroirs showcase the beauty of Northern California, while still remaining accessible. The wine is above all drinkable, with cool concrete minerality and captivating fruit and verve. The grippy tannins retain a refreshing finish.
